This Thing Called Friendship

If friendships were staged on the premise of closeness

And the end product was oneness

You and I would rate a five

Working our way to the max: ten

Every week, racing at this speed,

We could give friendship our own meaning

Grapple with the challenges on our way

And respond when life gives us no control

We would put our memory to work perfunctorily While this attraction continues to grow

And the curiosity multiplies

So shall our minds become richer

That we may always have new thoughts to feed each other

Until we become each other’s thoughts

And the key can no longer be found

Therein, friendship would have reached its full glory.
