We’ve established that this friendship has the potential to blossom.
Fear is no longer in the equation,
We’ve reached some level of sophistication.
If by virtue of circumstance, we are led to part ways
I’d still respect all that we got to be at some point.
For I now know better than to respond to sentiments.
I now know better than to get hung up on someone
who refused to give in to concession.
I’m consciously keeping my emotions in check.
I’m numbing my thoughts on all the things that could go wrong in the course of or interim of a delayed gratification.
Should I succeed, I can prove that feelings and love are mutually exclusive.
Meanwhile, let’s leave our thoughts open.
Sometimes, I say things to provoke you.
