You pass by everyday

Without saying “hi”

Not even a glance

I–staring, but shy

Sitting in the same spot

Is left to wonder why

Why do I sit still and wait?

Why is tomorrow considered too late?

Why do I not wave instead?

Why is the man in the moon dead?

Why is the ocean fearless and deep?

Why then is the mind fearful, but deeper?

You pass by with confidence

And painstaking assuredness

I sit and ponder in confusion

And absurd illusion

This time, un-shy

And I’m still wondering why

Why do I sit still and wait?

Why can’t you wave first?

Why can’t love be brave?

Why must I behave?

Why can’t I quench my thirst?

Why must I accept fate?

You pass by and pass me by

I kept quiet and keep you away

Intended? Unintended? You tell me

I and you

I mean–you and me?

What could have been?
